QUILT MAKING DAY FOR BUSHFIRES
(message from Yvonne Claessens)
“Dear Church folk and especially our sewing people.
We have all seen the tragedy over east with the fires. Many have donated but are still asking what else can we do. One way we can help over the coming months is by providing quilts for some of those impacted. These quilts are very tangible reminders that they are not alone, that they have been thought of and cared for. Our own Jill Birt who is with Praxeis, is able to deliver some in February to Praxeis over east. To this end, I am organising a quilting day so we will have some to give her for the first trip. If you are a quilter or sewer and would like to help out, then this day is for you. If you don’t sew and would still like to be involved, we will need ironing people, reverse sewing people (unpicking) and coffee providers too.
You may have fabric, wadding or backing fabric at home that you do not need and may like to donate to someone to sew up. Greatly appreciated.
If you haven’t made a quilt top before but would like to give it a go, and have sewing experience, we can show you an easy pattern.
Of course, you can make quilts at home as well to have ready for Jill this time and in the coming months. Quilts for babies, children and adults are needed.
If you are able to and would like to be involved please send an email to me at
email@example.com or phone on 0417 172 315″
