Unity in Christ

Family ties

The book of Revelation shows us many things. Often people look at it as a blueprint for the future and how the world will end!! We should not be neglectful to the things it can teach us now and the beautiful imagery it has of Jesus Christ and His Church which echoes back to our present time. The symbolism of this passage has beauty in showing the angels, creatures and the people of God clothed in white, washed in the blood of the Lamb worshiping at the throne of God. We might feel there is a stark contrast to what we see in this passage and what we see on a Sunday morning. (The people of God dressed in white from all tribes and tongues worshipping at the throne of God).In comparison to the weary individuals that turn up on a Sunday morning!! However, it is important to see the beauty of the people of God, a people that is joined by a unifying purpose; Jesus Christ. A people that is joined together in love. A people that serves and cares for one another, a people that prays for each other and serves one another.

From Series: "Family ties"

”The currency of life is relationships and family. For many of us the family we have is through our biological connection and for others it is through relationship. We all have or have had a mother and a father at some stage. We have all no doubt had within our orbit as kids, people we called uncle and auntie who we weren’t related to and again, this is through relationship. God uses the model of a family to describe the importance of his people and his church. Family should be a safe place where we learn and grow and become prepared for life. Over the next six weeks we are going to be thinking more about this and exploring what it means to be part of God’s family.”
