Living with each other in Community

Family ties

In Colossians 3 the apostle Paul says we are to act with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and longsuffering. It is in the local church context that we have the opportunity to rub shoulders with each other, to upset each other, to annoy and frustrate each other! And because of that we can practise the things that Paul talks about in this passage. Being in a church community means we are tested in these things. This can feel negative for many, but we can reframe this thinking and see it as the beautiful way God works through His people to shape them into the diverse, complex, yet wonderful and spectacular body of Christ!

From Series: "Family ties"

”The currency of life is relationships and family. For many of us the family we have is through our biological connection and for others it is through relationship. We all have or have had a mother and a father at some stage. We have all no doubt had within our orbit as kids, people we called uncle and auntie who we weren’t related to and again, this is through relationship. God uses the model of a family to describe the importance of his people and his church. Family should be a safe place where we learn and grow and become prepared for life. Over the next six weeks we are going to be thinking more about this and exploring what it means to be part of God’s family.”
